NEW ORLEANS - Sophomore Magnus Kullenberg advanced to the semifinals of the Bill Watson Ford Men's Tennis Invitational Saturday afternoon before coming up short against the No. 1 seeded Tom Hand of LSU. John Deaton advanced to the quarterfinals.
In the A flight, Kullenberg battled the 21st-ranked player in the nation, Hand, to a 6-1, 6-2 loss. Kullenberg advanced to the semifinals by defeating Jessie Smatt of LSU, 6-2, 6-2.
Deaton advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Paul Kolenich of Tulane 6-4, 6-3 in Friday's matches. Deaton battled Niklas Adnoff of New Orleans and lost, 6-2, 6-2.
The Hogs will be in action this weekend at the Rolex Regional in Ft. Worth, Texas. The regional will be the last tournament of the fall.
