UA Golfers Finish Shortened UTSA Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Ice and freezing temperatures cancelled the second day of play on Tuesday morning at the UTSA Invitational, leaving the Arkansas golf team in second place after 18 holes. The Hogs trailed the winner of the tournament, Texas Tech (300), by just two strokes with 18 over par.
"It was an unfortunate situation," Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. "I feel bad for the host school, because they spent a lot of time and energy organizing this tournament, but you can't control mother nature."
The Razorbacks were well represented when three UA golfers finished the tournament in the top 10 at the Oak Hills Country Club. Senior Drew Higginbothom earned a career-best finish as he led the Hogs when shot a three over par 74 to tie for fifth place. The UTSA Invitational was Higginbothom's first tournament to compete in since the Southeastern Conference Championship in April.
Juniors Andrew Dahl and Adam Wing both shot a four over par 75 to put themselves in a tie for seventh. Junior Seth Murphy finished in a tie for 30th with a seven over par 78 and freshman Paul Bradshaw rounded out the Hogs with a score of 82 and 11 over par for a tie in 57th.
Since the tournament was cancelled the scores will not officially count towards Arkansas' overall statistics.
At last year's UTSA Invitational the Hogs had their best showing of the season when they finished second with a score of 896. Wing was the team's top finisher at eighth with an eight over par 221. Murphy posted a 22nd place finish with a score of 228 and 15 over par.
After the Razorbacks return from the UTSA Invitational they will travel to St. Augustine, Fla., for the Palensia Collegiate Invitational on March 1-3, before hitting the road again on March 9-11, for the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
