FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas’ women’s tennis head coach Michael Hegarty has released information regarding the fall portion of its 2014 schedule.
“Our fall schedule is definitely as challenging as any in the past five years,” Hegarty said. “We want to test our team as much as possible in preparation for the spring season.”
Hegarty will be entering his 12th season leading the Razorbacks in 2014-15.
The Razorbacks open the season in Little Rock, Ark., Sept. 12-14 as they will compete in the Little Rock Classic. The following weekend, Arkansas will travel across state lines to Norman, Okla., to play in the Oklahoma Sooner Invite on Sept. 19-21. Rounding out the September slate, Arkansas will participate in the Buffalo Classic on Sept. 25-28 in Boulder, Colo.
The ITA Riviera All-American Championships are scheduled for Oct. 1-5. Individual selections for this nationally renowned tournament will be announced later in August.
On the weekend of Oct. 10-12, the Razorbacks will be competing in two tournaments simultaneously. Some members of the team will play in the Stephen F. Austin Classic in Nagodochies, Texas, and other members will play in the Virginia Cavalier Invite in Charlottesville, Va.
The ITA Central Regional Championship will take place Oct. 16-20 in Stillwater, Okla. This event serves as a qualifying event for the ITA National Indoors, which will be held Nov. 6-9 in New York, N.Y.
The final spot on Arkansas’ fall schedule is a trip to Providence, R.I., to play in the Brown Mock Duals on Nov. 7-9.
The Razorbacks are coming off a 2013-14 season in which they posted a 13-16 overall record and a 2-11 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
