FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas swimming and diving earned the No. 22 spot on the College Swimming Coaches Association of America first top-25 poll of the 2014-15 season, as announced by officials Thursday.
The Razorbacks, led by head coach Sean Schimmel, fell in their first two meets to now-ranked No. 3 Florida and No. 7 Texas A&M. Following Arkansas’ first two dual meets, senior Nikki Daniels’ 100 breaststroke time against Florida (1:01.63) remains the No. 7 swim in the nation and junior Anna Mayfield’s 500 freestyle time (4:49.42) earned at Florida remains the No. 7 swim in the nation.
Last season, the Razorbacks were ranked in CSCAA’s top-25 ranking of all women’s Division I programs for the entirety of the season. Arkansas debuted at No. 15 and completed the 2013-14 season at No. 24.
Arkansas joins seven ranked Southeastern Conference teams on the chart.
The CSCAA DI Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving teams in rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country.
The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Team Rankings are voted on by nine CSCAA-member coaches and one media member. The rankings will be released on a regular basis throughout the 2014-15 season, alternating weeks between a men’s and women’s team ranking.
