Arkansas Men’s Basketball To Hold Open Scrimmage At Vilonia HS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Entering his 21st season as a coach at the University of Arkansas, Mike Anderson knows those that live in and that are from the Natural State care deeply for one another. On Friday, Anderson announced that the Arkansas men’s basketball team will hold an open scrimmage at Vilonia High School on Sunday, Nov. 2, to assist in the recovery effort for those impacted by last April’s tornadoes.

The open scrimmage will begin at 2:45 p.m. with doors opening to Vilonia High School at 2 p.m. The scrimmage is free and open to the public, but coach Anderson and the Razorbacks are asking for non-perishable food item donations at the door.

Prior to scrimmage, every member of the Razorback squad will sign autographs with 2014-15 team photos being provided.

“The state of Arkansas is one big community. People care for one another in a way that’s indescribable,” said Anderson. “Whatever we can do to assist with the recovery efforts from last April’s storms, we’ll do it. We want this to be a day where people show up and put a smile on their face. We are all part of the Razorback family.”

Members of the team visited Vilonia and Mayflower in June, holding a Family Fun Day at Mayflower High School. Families in the area were invited to come out and spend time with members of several different sports programs for a day of fun on the court and the fields.

The Vilonia High School gym has a seating capacity of 1,600 with standing room also available.
