FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - As the mid-summer classic approaches, many MLB teams are finding their identities with many former Razorbacks stepping up in the spotlight.
After jumping into the show this season, Brett Eibner acquired an ankle sprain and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. After fighting back from injury, Eibner hit his first career Major League home run off Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers in a game that saw another former Razorback, James McCann, homer also. In the past month, McCann has hit four of his 12 career home runs.
McCann has been on a tear in the month of June recording a hit in six of his last seven games while hitting .292 with four RBIs in that span.
Another former Hog, Logan Forsythe, has been as consistent as one can ask for. In his 12 games in the month of June, Forsythe has recorded five multi-hit games and holds the second highest batting average on the Tampa Bay Rays (.292) while placing in the top-three in on-base percentage, slugging and OPS.
#PROHOG OF THE WEEK - MATT REYNOLDS
After some unlikely injuries on the New York Mets roster, former Hog infielder Matt Reynolds has turned into a go-to player for manager Terry Collins to fill voids in both in the infield and the outfield on a daily basis.
Reynolds, who began the 2016 season in Triple-A with the Las Vegas 51s, has become a constant presence at the big league level and even clubbed his first home run on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals.
