FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas continues to make its way up the National Soccer Coaches Association of America top 25 poll, moving ahead one spot to No. 11 in the nation on Tuesday.
The Razorbacks also retained their second place ranking in the NSCAA NCAA Division I Women's South Regional poll and are still tied for first place in the Southeastern Conference as a result of their record 5-0 start in league play.
Only three other SEC teams were ranked in the NSCAA top 25: South Carolina (No. 4), Florida (No. 16) and Auburn (No. 18).
Arkansas has never been ranked this high in its 30-year history, and its standing in the NSCAA poll is supplemented by other positive indicators of the team's record 12-1-0 season: TopDrawerSoccer.com ranked the Razorbacks No. 9 in the nation in the online publication’s weekly top 25 poll and the NCAA placed the Razorbacks at No. 11 in its weekly RPI rankings.
The RPI plays an important role in the NCAA’s decision-making process that helps select teams to participate in the NCAA Tournament. It takes into account a team’s winning percentage and its opponents’ average winning percentage, among other factors.
Arkansas will host Vanderbilt on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. CT in a nationally televised match on SEC Network before facing No. 4 South Carolina and No. 18 Auburn in back-to-back road matches.
