FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 25 Arkansas men’s golf team will once again face one of the toughest fields in the country this weekend, traveling to the Aggie Invitational for the fifth consecutive season.
The 13-team field features nine programs ranked in the top 30 in the country, including four of the top 10 teams in the land with No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Baylor, No. 7 Kent State and No. 8 LSU. Arkansas checks in at No. 25 in the latest Golfstat national rankings.
The 54-hole event will be played at the Jack Nicklaus designed Traditions Club, a par 72, 7,146-yard course that opened in 2004. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, April 1, before coming back for 18 holes on Sunday, April 2. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.
The Razorbacks return to the always-tough Aggie Invitational for the fifth straight year, having posted consecutive top-three finishes at the event in the final tune-up before postseason play.
Junior Alvaro Ortiz will look to repeat as the individual champion after rolling in a birdie on the final hole of the championship last year to capture his first collegiate victory. He would be the first player to ever defend his title at The Aggie. Ortiz leads the team with four top-five finishes this year, including a runner-up performance at Pebble Beach.
Arkansas enters the final tournament of the regular season with an 87-41 overall head-to-head record, including a 45-24 mark during the spring campaign. The Razorbacks have multiple team victories for the fifth time in the last seven years and are looking for a third title for the first time in five seasons.
