Razorbacks announce track and field schedule for 2021-22

Arkansas will host eight meets for the 2021-22 track and field season, five indoor and three outdoor, including the NCAA West Preliminary Round in late May at John McDonnell Field. Season tickets are now available for purchase.

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas will host eight meets for the 2021-22 track and field season, five indoor and three outdoor, including the NCAA West Preliminary Round in late May at John McDonnell Field.

“I think we have a very competitive, national-caliber schedule,” said Razorback women’s head coach Lance Harter. “We do host a lot of events during the indoor season. Outdoors, we look forward to hosting the NCAA West Preliminary, which is the first two rounds of the NCAA Championships, and it will be in our backyard.

“We always make sure we address each and every event area to get optimal conditions to compete at the highest level. Be it indoor or outdoor.”

The season ticket price for admission to all the Razorback indoor and outdoor regular season meets is $40. Children 17 & under are free and do not require a ticket. All seating is general admission for both facilities.

In 2021, the Randal Tyson Track Center produced the most NCAA qualifying marks of any indoor track facility in the country with 82 NCAA qualifiers during the regular season, which included five Arkansas home meets.

When including the SEC Championships, which the Razorbacks hosted last season, an additional 102 NCAA qualifiers are added to the tally to create a total of 184. The next best facility totaled 66 at Texas Tech, who also hosted the Big 12 Championships.

The Randal Tyson Track Center produced three of the top six meets in terms of NCAA qualifiers in 2021. The 102 from the SEC Championships topped the list while the Tyson Invitational produced 38, sharing the runner-up tally with the ACC Championships hosted by Clemson.

Ranking sixth with 28 qualifiers was the Razorback Invitational, one behind the Big Ten Championships (29) and three behind the Big 12 Championships (31).

Arkansas opens the 2021-22 indoor campaign next month as the Randal Tyson Track Center will host the Wooo Pig Classic on Friday, December 3.

Following the winter break, action returns on Friday, January 14 with the Arkansas Invitational. Then a pair of two-day meets follow with the Razorback Invitational on January 28-29, and Tyson Invitational on February 11-12. The indoor regular season wraps up with the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday, February 18.

Road trips during the indoor regular season include the Red Raider Invite in Lubbock (Jan. 21-22), New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque (Feb. 4-5), and the Husky Invite in Seattle (Feb. 11-12).

Indoor postseason action will have the Razorbacks traveling to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Championships (February 25-26) and Birmingham, Alabama, for the NCAA Championships (March 11-12).

In the outdoor portion of the schedule, Arkansas hosts the John McDonnell Invitational on Thursday and Friday, April 7-8, and the Arkansas Twilight on Friday, May 6.

The NCAA West Preliminary Round, expanding to four days in 2022, will be held Wednesday-Saturday, May 25-28, and serves as the qualification rounds for the NCAA Championships held June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon.

The Razorbacks open the outdoor campaign at the Texas Relays in Austin (March 23-26), then travel on the April 1-2 weekend to the Stanford Invitational or West Coast Relays in Fresno.
