FAYETTEVILLE – Maria José Marin has signed her National Letter of Intent with the Arkansas women’s golf team on the 2022 National Signing Day, as announced by head coach Shauna Taylor. José Marin, who hails from Cali, Colombia, is ranked No. 64 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, as well as No. 22 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.
“Maria comes to the University of Arkansas with a very decorated junior and amateur golf resume,” said Taylor. “She has competed all over the world and has a complete game. She is one of the hardest working junior golfers I have ever met, and it shows when she competes. She leaves no stone unturned in her preparation and she loves to win.”
José Marin has racked up the accolades in the junior golf ranks. At the 2022 USGA Girls Junior Championship, José Marin was a semifinalist, which is a big feat in the junior golf world. Also this past year, José Marin won the XII Juegos Suramericanos Paraguay, a tournament she played at with professionals from 15 different countries, as well as the Columbian Open and the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship in Miami. José Marin was the runner-up in the inaugural Women’s Amateur Latin America Championship in 2021 and the World Junior Girls Championship this past October.
